Terms of Service
The agreement between you and GoCanvassing when you use our door-to-door outreach platform.
Effective date: August 16, 2026
1. Agreement to These Terms
GoCanvassing is operated as an unincorporated sole proprietorship doing business as GoCanvassing ("GoCanvassing," "we," "us," or "our"). These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the GoCanvassing website, applications, and related services (the "Service").
By creating an account, accepting a worker invitation, or otherwise using the Service, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
If you use the Service on behalf of an organization, campaign, committee, church, business, or other entity, you represent that you have authority to bind that entity, and "you" includes that entity.
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will post the updated Terms on this page and revise the effective date above. Your continued use of the Service after changes become effective constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
2. Description of the Service
GoCanvassing provides software tools for planning and coordinating door-to-door and similar field outreach, including map-based turf management, door lists, worker assignments, visit logging, and progress tracking.
The Service is a technology product only. We do not provide legal, campaign-finance, election, tax, employment, or compliance advice. Nothing in the Service constitutes endorsement of any candidate, ballot measure, organization, religion, or cause.
3. Eligibility and Accounts
You must be at least 18 years old, or the age of majority in your jurisdiction, and have legal capacity to enter into these Terms. You agree to provide accurate account information and to keep it updated.
Unless we expressly authorize otherwise, each natural person may maintain only one account. Organizations may authorize additional people by inviting them as workers; invited workers must use their own accounts and login credentials, not shared organizer credentials.
You are responsible for safeguarding your login credentials and for all activity under your account. You may not share your password or other login credentials with anyone else, or allow others to access the Service through your account. Notify us promptly if you suspect unauthorized access. Organizations that invite workers are responsible for the workers they authorize and for ensuring those workers comply with these Terms.
You may not share accounts to circumvent seating, billing, security, or promotional controls, create multiple accounts for yourself, or impersonate another person or entity. We reserve the right to suspend or close accounts that violate these rules, including related accounts, as described in Section 14.
4. Google Maps Features and Content
The Service includes Google Maps features and content. Use of Google Maps features and content is subject to the then-current versions of the:
By using map, geocoding, places, directions, or related features in the Service, you agree to comply with those Google terms as they apply to end users. Map data, geocodes, directions, and device location information may be incomplete or inaccurate and are provided for planning purposes only.
5. Your Content and Data
You retain ownership of content you submit to the Service, including door lists, addresses, notes, photos, turf boundaries, GPS visit coordinates, and similar materials ("Customer Content"), subject to any rights of third parties in that content.
You grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, store, process, display, transmit, and otherwise use Customer Content solely as needed to operate, maintain, secure, and improve the Service and to provide support to you.
You represent and warrant that you have all rights, permissions, and lawful bases needed to upload, process, and use Customer Content in the Service, including any personal information about residents, donors, voters, congregants, customers, or volunteers. You are solely responsible for the accuracy and legality of Customer Content.
6. Our Intellectual Property
GoCanvassing and its licensors own all right, title, and interest in and to the Service, including the software, websites, applications, user interfaces, designs, documentation, logos, trademarks, trade names, and other branding, and all related intellectual property rights. These Terms do not transfer any ownership of that intellectual property to you.
Subject to your compliance with these Terms, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to access and use the Service solely for your internal outreach, campaign, or organizational purposes. You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, lease, sublicense, or create derivative works of the Service or our marks except as expressly permitted by these Terms or applicable law.
7. Acceptable Use
You agree not to, and not to allow others to:
- Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of these Terms.
- Harass, threaten, defame, or invade the privacy of others, or engage in fraudulent or deceptive conduct.
- Create multiple accounts, share login credentials, or otherwise abuse signup credits, promotions, or free usage allowances.
- Attempt unauthorized access to the Service, other accounts, or underlying systems; probe or bypass security; or interfere with Service operation.
- Reverse engineer, scrape, or copy the Service except as expressly permitted by law.
- Upload malware or content that infringes intellectual property or other rights.
- Use the Service in a way that violates third-party terms applicable to integrations you use through the Service, including Google Maps Platform end-user terms.
- Misrepresent GoCanvassing as the publisher, sponsor, or treasurer of any campaign, political committee, or outreach program.
You and your field workers must comply with applicable trespass, solicitation, "no solicitation," door-to-door, workplace, and similar local laws while canvassing. We are not responsible for field-worker safety or for decisions made in the field.
8. Political and Election Outreach
Political, campaign, ballot-measure, issue-advocacy, and election-related use of the Service is permitted. GoCanvassing is a neutral software tool. We are not a political committee, campaign treasurer, candidate, consultant, or compliance vendor.
If you use the Service for political or election outreach, you alone are responsible for compliance with all applicable laws and rules, including without limitation:
- Federal, state, and local campaign-finance and disclosure laws (including FECA and state analogues, where applicable).
- Candidate, committee, and PAC registration and reporting obligations.
- Disclaimer and "paid for by" requirements on materials you produce or distribute.
- Rules governing voter files, voter contact, robocalls, texts, email, and do-not-contact preferences.
- Local solicitation, canvassing hours, and access restrictions.
We do not monitor your campaigns for legal compliance and do not warrant that use of the Service satisfies any election or campaign-finance requirement.
9. Third-Party Services
The Service may rely on third-party providers, including mapping and geocoding providers (such as Google Maps and OpenStreetMap-related services), email delivery, hosting, and payment processors (currently Stripe). Their terms and privacy policies may apply to your use of those features. We are not responsible for third-party outages, errors, pricing changes, or policy changes.
10. Fees, Credits, and Taxes
Organizer accounts receive a signup credit (currently $25) and may purchase additional platform credits at checkout. Credits are consumed for metered platform usage such as map loads, geocoding, directions, place search, door-discovery queries, and proof photo uploads (a one-time fee that includes storage for 90 days, after which proof photos are deleted), including when free third-party providers are used. Rates are described on our pricing page and may change. Fees are for access to and use of the GoCanvassing platform; they are not a resale, redistribution, or sublicense of third-party mapping APIs. Fees and unused credits are non-refundable except where we expressly state otherwise or where required by law.
Signup credits and other promotional credits are limited to one per natural person, except as we expressly state otherwise. Creating multiple accounts to obtain additional free or promotional credits, or sharing credentials to pool or circumvent credit limits, is prohibited. We may deny, revoke, or forfeit credits obtained through such abuse and may suspend or close the accounts involved.
Payments for credit purchases and any paid plans are processed by our payment processor (currently Stripe, Inc.). When you pay, you provide payment details directly to the processor; we do not store full credit card numbers on our servers. Your use of the processor’s checkout and payment services is also subject to that processor’s terms and privacy policy. The processor’s name may appear on your card or bank statement for these charges.
Field workers invited to a team do not receive a separate signup credit. Usage incurred while working a campaign is billed to the organizer’s company balance. You are responsible for any taxes associated with your purchases, excluding taxes based on our net income. Failure to maintain sufficient credit may result in suspension of metered features.
11. Disclaimers
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE." TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.
We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure; that maps, addresses, geocodes, directions, or GPS data will be accurate or complete; or that the Service is fit for any particular campaign, election outcome, fundraising result, or business objective. Google Maps Core Services and similar data are for planning purposes only and may differ from actual conditions.
12. Limitation of Liability
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, GOCANVASSING AND ITS OPERATOR WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, REVENUE, DATA, GOODWILL, OR BUSINESS OPPORTUNITY, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO THE SERVICE OR THESE TERMS, WHETHER BASED ON WARRANTY, CONTRACT, TORT (INCLUDING NEGLIGENCE), OR ANY OTHER LEGAL THEORY, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, OUR TOTAL AGGREGATE LIABILITY ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO THE SERVICE OR THESE TERMS WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNTS YOU PAID TO US FOR THE SERVICE IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS BEFORE THE EVENT GIVING RISE TO LIABILITY, OR (B) ONE HUNDRED U.S. DOLLARS (US $100).
Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations; in those cases, our liability is limited to the maximum extent permitted by law.
13. Indemnification
You will defend, indemnify, and hold harmless GoCanvassing and its operator from and against any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of or related to: (a) your Customer Content; (b) your or your workers' use of the Service; (c) your canvassing, solicitation, or outreach activities; (d) your political, campaign, or election-related use of the Service; or (e) your breach of these Terms or applicable law.
14. Termination
You may stop using the Service at any time and may request account deletion as described in our Privacy Policy. We may suspend or terminate access immediately—including closing related accounts—if you breach these Terms (including the one-account, credential-sharing, and credit-abuse rules in Sections 3, 7, and 10), create risk or legal exposure for us, fail to pay fees when due, or if we discontinue the Service.
Upon termination or account deletion, any unused platform credits are forfeited and non-refundable, except where we expressly state otherwise or where required by law. Your license to use the Service ends when your access ends.
Sections that by their nature should survive termination (including ownership of Customer Content subject to deletion practices, licenses needed to wind down the Service, our intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability, indemnification, fee and credit non-refundability, and governing law) will survive.
15. Privacy
Our collection and use of personal information is described in our Privacy Policy. By using the Service, you also acknowledge that policy.
16. Governing Law and Venue
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Ohio, U.S.A., excluding that state's conflict-of-laws rules. Subject to applicable law, the state and federal courts located in Ohio will have exclusive jurisdiction over disputes arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service, and you consent to personal jurisdiction there.
If you are a consumer and mandatory local law entitles you to bring disputes in another forum, nothing in this section limits those non-waivable rights.
17. Miscellaneous
These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy and any order or checkout terms for paid features, are the entire agreement between you and us regarding the Service. If any provision is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in effect. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. You may not assign these Terms without our prior written consent; we may assign them in connection with a reorganization, merger, or sale of assets. Headings are for convenience only.
